Decisive for the price of hearing systems are the technology levels of the hearing aids, which can be divided into categories. The devices are classified practically by their software and the corresponding programming. Visually, there is no difference between devices of the same type but of different technology levels.

The requirements and expectations of the wearer are important for the pricing of a hearing aid.

Hearing systems are generally offered in four technology classes. These build on each other. This means that functions from lower classes are automatically adopted and integrated into higher classes:

• Base

The quality of these devices meets the requirements of the AHV/IV to provide hearing systems in a simple, practical and economical design. The prices for these devices represent a minimum supply price, which is taken into account in the financing contribution of the AHV of CHF 630 per hearing aid.

• Entry

Coverage of the minimum requirements by AHV/IV are given, in addition:
Good hearing in quiet situations at home
Better understanding of one-on-one conversations under light noise.
Device prices in this class start at around CHF 1,000 per hearing aid.

• Comfort:

Simpler conversations in small groups or conversations with constant synchronization between both hearing aids (with binaural fitting)
Between 6 and 12 frequency channels
Simple automatic situation detection, with and without noise interference
Feedback manager
Ambient noise suppression
Bluetooth pairing, direct media transmission (TV, Natel, smartphone, etc.)
Battery operation
Device prices in this class start at around CHF 1,800 per hearing aid.

• Premium:

Manual adjustment of the hearing systems to new situations is no longer necessary
No wind noise during outdoor activities
Good speech understanding and by focusing the speech
Binaural matching between both hearing aids
Between 12 and 16 frequency channels
Bluetooth pairing with smartphone - hands-free calling
Impulse sound suppression
Frequency compression
Device prices in this class start at around CHF 2,400 per hearing aid.

• High-end:

Maximum hearing comfort in all listening situations
Between 16 and 20 frequency channels
Best possible speech intelligibility in large, sociable groups and directional responsiveness
Best sound quality when listening to music (automatic music detection)

Wind noise manager
